Watch: Ipswich vs Forest Highlights

Williams Gives Forest an Early Advantage

Forest began with attacking intent, putting the Ipswich defence under pressure during the opening minutes. Their positive start was rewarded in the 13th minute when Daniel Muñoz delivered a cross from the right towards the far post.

Neco Williams found space and finished confidently beyond Christian Walton. The goal gave Forest the lead and rewarded the visitors for their energetic start.

Morgan Gibbs-White came close to making it 2–0 after combining with the attack, but Ipswich goalkeeper Walton and a desperate defensive clearance from Leif Davis kept the ball out.

Enciso Punishes a Defensive Mistake

Ipswich gradually found more opportunities to move forward, and their persistence paid off in the 41st minute. A misplaced defensive pass from Nikola Milenković allowed Julio Enciso to seize possession and move towards goal.

Enciso kept his composure and finished beyond Matz Sels to make it 1–1. The equaliser came against the flow of much of the first half, but it gave Ipswich renewed belief just before the interval.

VAR Review Creates a Major Talking Point

The second half began with another significant moment. In the 49th minute, James McAtee attempted to break through towards goal before being brought down by Ipswich defender Issa Diop.

Referee Thomas Bramall initially allowed play to continue, but VAR recommended an on-field review for a possible red card for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

After reviewing the incident, Bramall decided that Diop should receive a yellow card and that Forest should be awarded a free-kick. The explanation focused on McAtee's touch taking the ball towards the right rather than directly towards goal.

Forest Dominate the Search for a Winner

Forest continued to create chances after the restart, but Ipswich defended their penalty area with determination. Murillo tested Walton following a corner, and the goalkeeper reacted well to keep the effort out.

Leif Davis was particularly important to the home side's resistance. He made another crucial clearance to deny Dan Ndoye, preventing Forest from converting one of their promising attacking moves.

Late Chances Go Begging

As the match entered its final stages, Forest continued to search for a winner. Liam Delap, facing his former club, had opportunities to make a difference but could not find the target with his late efforts.

Callum Hudson-Odoi also failed to convert a promising opening, sending a shot wide as Forest's attacking pressure continued.

Key Performers

Neco Williams made an important contribution for Forest with his well-taken opening goal. His movement at the far post and composed finish gave the visitors a deserved early advantage.

Julio Enciso was equally important for Ipswich. His alert reaction to Forest's defensive error and calm finish restored parity. Christian Walton and Leif Davis also played key roles in Ipswich's resistance.

The point moved Forest out of the relegation zone at the time of the result, offering some relief while leaving clear room for improvement. Ipswich will take encouragement from their response after falling behind.

Final Verdict

Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest shared the points in a competitive Premier League encounter shaped by an early goal, a costly defensive mistake and several missed opportunities.

Williams gave Forest the lead, but Enciso's equaliser ensured Ipswich reached half-time on level terms. The visitors pushed hard for a winner after the break, yet Walton, Davis and the rest of the Ipswich defence stood firm.
